Calling All Wedding Celebrants
We need to take action and push for the long-awaited response by the Government to the Law Commission’s recommendations for wedding law reform
It’s time for weddings in England and Wales to enable celebrants to conduct lawfully binding marriages.
The growing demand for independent celebrant-led weddings is becoming popular among couples. They want the freedom to choose where they get married and have a ceremony written especially for them to reflect their personal love story. We now need to bring this to the attention of our MPs to push the implementation of these reforms by the Government.
Show your support by:
- Writing to your MP (PDF guide)
- Raising awareness – More couples are choosing to have their weddings led by independent celebrants, who, unlike humanists, can offer couples the freedom to include their cultural customs, and spiritual or religious aspects, at a venue of their choice and have a marriage that is personal and unique to their story.

The advantage of having a celebrant-led ceremony is the freedom to celebrate in a style that suits you, at a venue of your choice and to personalise everything that shows your personality and brings out your romantic, fun-loving side
